《Joint Recruitment Program for Overseas Chinese Students》
According to the "Regulations Regarding Study and Counseling Assistance for Overseas Chinese Students in Taiwan", overseas Chinese students refer to students of Chinese descent who were born and have lived overseas continuously until now, or who have been living overseas for the last 6 consecutive years, and have obtained permanent or long-term residency in the country of residence before returning to Taiwan to study. However, for those who wish to study medicine, dentistry, or traditional Chinese medicine at the university level, the consecutive residence period must be at least 8 years.
The term "overseas" refers to countries or regions other than mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau.
The term "obtaining permanent or long-term residency certificate in the country of residence" means obtaining citizenship, permanent residency, or having the status of an overseas Chinese recognized by the ROC passport.
The term "consecutive residence" means that the overseas Chinese student's stay in Taiwan each calendar year (1/1~12/31) does not exceed 120 days. However, the following circumstances are exceptions, and the period of stay in Taiwan will not be included in the calculation of the overseas residence period:
Studying in an overseas youth technical training class organized by the competent authority of overseas Chinese affairs or a specialized program recognized by the central competent education administrative authority.
Studying in a class or course on Mandarin Chinese language organized or recommended by the competent authority of overseas Chinese affairs, or participating in activities recognized by the competent authority of overseas Chinese affairs as organized by government agencies, and the total period of study or activity is less than 2 years.
Exchange students, and the total exchange period is less than 2 years.
Internships approved by the central competent authority, and the total internship period is less than 2 years.
Returning to Taiwan for military service.
Unable to return to the country of residence due to war, natural disaster, or large-scale infectious disease, and the stay in Taiwan is less than 1 year.
Unable to return to the country of residence due to other reasons not attributable to the overseas Chinese student, with supporting documents, and the stay in Taiwan is less than 1 year, limited to one time only.
For the reasons mentioned in the 6th and 7th items above, the consecutive stay in Taiwan across years shall not exceed 1 year, and the total shall not exceed 2 times.

Overseas Chinese Students
Born overseas and have lived there continuously until now, or have lived overseas for the last 6 consecutive years. (Those applying for medicine, dentistry, or traditional Chinese medicine programs at the university level must have lived overseas for at least 8 consecutive years)
Overseas Chinese students who have obtained permanent or long-term residency in the country of residence

Students from Hong Kong and Macau
Have lived outside of Taiwan for the last 6 consecutive years. (Those applying for medicine, dentistry, or traditional Chinese medicine programs at the university level must have lived outside of Taiwan for at least 8 consecutive years)
Residents of Hong Kong or Macau who have obtained permanent residency status in Hong Kong or Macau and do not hold a foreign passport.
The term "outside of Taiwan" refers to countries or regions other than Taiwan.
Hong Kong and Macau Students with Foreign Nationality
Overseas Chinese students who have lived in Hong Kong, Macau, or abroad for the last 6 consecutive years
Holding foreign nationality and also have permanent residency status in Hong Kong or Macau
